Ted Talks is a fantastic resource that I will use in my classroom. I believe that Ted videos are something that can be shown in a classroom. The videos on Ted are educational, informative, and absolutely inspiring. I find that Ted has videos that are extremely entertaining. Some of my favorite videos that I would love to share with my classroom and consider while educating my student are:

This video of Sir Ken Robinson is my favorite because he does a fantastic job of explaining how schools take away from creativity while using a great sense of humor to get his point across.

Wujec is another video I will share with my students because he explains how the brain visualizes to take in and process information. Students will understand the three different parts of the brain that locate, make a mental map, and the part that feels. All of these things together help us make meaning in our world.

Lotto does an excellent job of pointing out how optical illusions point out what we see. Context is everything. I like how he shows that two images can give two different meaning, so everything really has no meaning, but what we do with that information is everything.

This video is also another favorite. I find this story to be heart wrenching, but tremendously powerful and inspiring. A photographer Rick Soloman gives a new life to an Asian girl who has a western American look. I could not believe the life that Natasha has had from moving away from her family in Asia to live with a completely new family in the United States. I would show this video to my students to show that anything is possible in life if you put you mind to it.

Sugata Mitra talks about how some places in the world do not have the chance to have good teachers to teach them. He gives examples of things that have happened to him in India. Mitra found that children will learn what they want to learn. I feel that this is a great video to show because students can see how fortunate they are to be getting and education. I know that my students can take away something from every Ted Talks video. I hope that my students will be inspired and take away from the Ted Talks videos that I share with them.
